Sex and the City

this week's evintage blog tag came just in time.

evintage asks:

1)We know Carrie favors vintage, to kick it off, show us a piece you think the quirky, eclectic and whimsical Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) would look great in from your inventory.

I just sold this Delightful Novelty Print POP Guy Laroche Dress that I can absolutely see on Carrie.

Here's the detail of the print

2)Samantha (Kim Cattrall) works the vampy edge of fashion…what do you have in your inventory that can bring out the temptress in a woman?

Kim has a model's body, she can wear a potato sack and still look gorgeous, I can totally see Kim wearing this Ungaro

or this sexy Sonia Rykiel

3)Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) tends to play it safe, tending toward clean lines and classic silhouettes with the occasional sexy edge. What do you have in your inventory for her?

I can see Cynthia wearing this little black LAUNDRY dress.

ONLY $29.99 at figure8studio.com

4)Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is often seen in more feminine, flirty and girlie pieces. What vintage dress or ensemble do you have that would work for her character?

Im prepping to list this cool and stylish paisley 60s dress

5) Sex and the City Shoes. Stilettos? Of course! If you’ve got some vintage shoes to rival Carrie’s Jimmy Choos, show ‘em off here!

although more of a fall/winter shoe I love these Bruno Maglis

6)Love the show? Hate the show? Never seen it? Do tell. No spoilers if you’ve seen the movie!

Love it! We are having our girls night out tomorrow, dinner with Cosmos (of course!) and Sex And The City! Cant wait!

6/6/08 What a fantastic movie! The four of us made it to the restaurant by the AMC Loews Theater just in time to have our first round of Cosmos, we toasted and made it in as the previews were running.

About the movie, I wont give up any secrets, we laughed and laughed and there were a couple of tears too, loved loved loved the fashions! But I have to say that I do not remember Samantha looking as tacky as the movie made her look in the Showtime series, was that just me?

Anyway, we cant wait till the movie comes out on DVD so we can play it over and over again, like an old friend.

Sinatra Chic

Out of 50,000 suggested faces to place on a United States Postage stamp each year, only 20 are selected. This year, on the 10 year anniversary of FRANK SINATRA’S death, the USPS issued a stamp honoring Ol’ Blue Eyes. His children, Nancy, Tina and Frank Jr., were on hand for the reveal yesterday….

You can’t talk about Sinatra without talking about style!

1) Show your favorite Rat Pack look in your inventory

I have the coolest pair of Mid Century Mixed Metals on Sterling Cuff links

2) Favorite Sinatra song?

My treasured memories of dancing with my dad to Sinatra songs, the one that reminds me of those days 'It Was A Very Good Year.'

Im not a smoker but Dad smoked Lucky Strikes

I found this video on Lucky Strikes with a young Sinatra at www.archive.org

3) Favorite Rat Pack member? Blue Eyes of course!

4) Best Sinatra “era”? The 60s is my favorite era and when Sinatra was his sexiest so it would be Rat Pack suave

5) Favorite Sinatra wife?

Gorgeous, sexy, stylish Ava Gardner, this photo is my computer's desktop background :)

6) Been to Vegas, how many times and best Vegas story

Too many to keep track of, but always in Vegas to see my favorite band Widespread Panic

Prints!

Time for the weekly evintage blog tag!

Tagged by Life of a Jersey Girl

The fashion magazines are predicting that prints will be hot for summer…large florals, bold brush strokes, graphic designs.

Lets talk prints!

Q. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PRINT IN YOUR INVENTORY?

Because Im a child of the 60s and in honor of Albert Hofmann

this Mr. Dino is one of the many psychedelic prints I have in my collection

Im also fond of this Stan Hicks Hawaiian shirt

And this oriental-ish hippie dress with contrast lime bell sleeves

Q. WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF NOVELTY PRINT?

For me a novelty print is one that is fun, whimsical, the print stands out on its own with not much other background 'noise'

like this unusual Shaheen seahorse pinafore MAXI dress also in my inventory

Q. MOST AMAZING NOVELTY PRINT YOU’VE EVER SEEN?

One of the most fun print dresses I ever sold was this WILD CHILD 60's Tori Richard Maxi Dress. Note how the flowers break off as they seem to float up to the top

Leave it to Tori Richard to design such an outstanding pop effect of the era.

Q. SIZE MATTERS….WHEN WEARING PRINTS, DO YOU PREFER BIG OR SMALL?

Um, Medium :)

Q. Personal Choice, COLOR OR BLACK AND WHITE?

I love black and white but do wear color on occasion.

Q. WHAT DESIGNER DOES YOUR FAVORITE PRINTS?

My holy grail, Pucci

Always great vintage from eVintage members.

MAXED Out!

Tagged by Life of a Jersey Girl

This week the topic of the eVintage blog tags is Maxis. They are still on the scene this season and they seem to be here to stay for a while.

Q. MAXI OR PATIO DRESS, AND WHY?

Maxi, it is the name coined in the 60's for the long dresses. 'Patio Dress' is more of a 50s term and the style is quite different.

thanks to aprizeeverytime from the vca

Q. FAVORITE MAXI DRESS IN YOUR INVENTORY?

Its too difficult to choose only one.

Mr. Dino

Q. AS A TREND, WILL IT BE A HIT OR A MISS?

Its been a big hit for two consecutive years now worn by many.

Last year's celebration of the Summer of Love had the maxi strutting the pages of all the major fashion magazines including Style.

Q. DO YOU WEAR MAXI DRESSES OR SKIRTS?

Yes to both.

Q. PROS AND CONS?

Pros - I can think of many. They are feminine and comfortable. You don't have to shave your legs :) , they go from day to night with ease, they are fantastic as beachwear/cover up when the sun goes down and the chill is in the air. Maxis are chic.

Cons - would'nt wear one in the rain

Always great vintage from eVintage members.
